My top 3 oldest Board/Card Games
The oldest boardgame of mine is Pictionary First Edition. This boardgame has traveled places with me. I remember upon graduation the few of us were on a trip to USA via indonesia Airlines Garuda and the flight was delayed for 5 almost hours transiting at Jarkarta airpot. However the group of us played Pictionary and the time just passed so fast for us.
The next oldest boardgame is monopoly which has a Hall of fame written on the board for winners. The first entry was in the year 2001 and the winner is my ex-colleague Ma Seow Lin from CIT of NUS while the latest entry iis in the year 2021 with winner being my niece Zen Sng.
The reason the game is popular is because I have introduced an exciting and fast paced way of playing Monopoly in determining the winner in no less than 2 hours.
Rules are follows
The game begins with all player dashing to complete the first round and not being allow to buy any properties
For subsequently round, players are to buy property based on whichever space they landed
The game will put on hold when the last property is purchased and players are encouraged to engage in a trading to complete properties of the same color or train station etc
Once all transactions are completed, the first person can start the game again by choosing to build a house on their complete properties WITHOUT the need to land on the exact property space. This way it will ensure a fast pace of game development
The game will end with the first player to declared bankrupt and everyone assets and money will be tabulated to see who is the richest and be on the Board of Fame
Last but not least of my popular game is Saboteur which I have introduced to children and teenagers on many of my in-law’s gathering whereby it can take up to 9 players, simple to learn and involved team collaboration to win
