Long before Emails and WhatsApp......
Long before Emails and WhatsApp, envelopes carried the metadata of communication. The introduction of postage stamps simplified the process, transforming letter writing into a reliable and affordable means of everyday connection
These surviving envelopes are more than paper—they are travel documents of the past, but now they are records of a life in motion, tracing the changing addresses of my grandfather’s journey
19 Tessensohn Road is the place where the story began where all
the Soh Generation of great and grand uncles and aunties stayed before each of
them venturing out on a journey of their own – starting their own family. There
are many stories to be told by my late dad and grandfather. Now the only living
legends that live to tell story is my young 6th granduncle and my
mom. By the way this house still existed and I have brought many relatives to
visit. It is said to be haunted since the day the Soh Generation stayed there
I do not get much stories from the following two places from
my dad and mom other than there is no electricity in one of the place and they
had to use kerosene lamps at night and even the use of a kerosene fridge
My elder sister was born on Kempas Road.
I was born on Lorong Tai Seng. Made known by the notorious Lim Ban Lim Singaporean gangster and outlaw in the 1960s and early 1970s, best known for being one of the country’s most wanted criminals during that era
In 1979, my family was resettled to Ang Mo Kio where we have been staying till this very day
