IKEA magazine ( 1993 to 2021 )

I once asked ChatGPT which year IKEA came to Singapore and was told it was 1978, with its first store in Ang Mo Kio. I’m not entirely sure about that, but what I do know is that many of the furniture pieces from my childhood — my study table, chair, cupboard, mirror, and shelf — were bought from an IKEA store located near the old Seaview Hotel area in the East, around Amber Road and Marine Parade, in the early 1980s. Sadly, over time, only the mirror and shelf remain today at my mother’s home.

In my current home, almost all my major furniture pieces — including my wardrobe closets, dining table and chairs, display units, and bookshelves — are from IKEA. I’ve always enjoyed visiting IKEA, whether it’s for the food or simply to stroll around the store and soak in the ideas.

I also love flipping through the pages of IKEA catalogues, drawing inspiration for home decoration and living spaces. Over the years, I’ve collected many of these magazines, and I tempted once considering exchanging some of them for vouchers during IKEA’s past promotions.

Any how here are my IKEA magazine collection
